Code of Conduct

Perry Lakes Hawks has a comprehensive Code of Conduct for Players, Coaches, Parents and Spectators.

Please take time to read this document and always conduct yourself in the appropriate manner.

Our Values

CCBC aims for all members of our community to have a great basketball experience, including players, coaches, managers, referees, and parents. We want everyone to look forward to games on Fridays and Saturdays.

Participation

We play for enjoyment. We value teamwork over individual performance and support our community to participate in referee and coaching courses.

Respect

We are not physically or verbally aggressive. We help another player up if knocked over and check if they are okay.

Fairness

We play by the rules. We acknowledge the opposition at the end of every game whether we win or lose.

Community

We cooperate with coaches, teammates, managers, and opponents. We celebrate good performances and skilful plays by all players.

Resilience

We work hard until the final siren and do not drop our heads if losing. We move on quickly from a decision that did not go our way.

Code of Conduct

Zero tolerance for abuse of officials. Our referees are kids learning the game, just like the players on the court. Abuse from players, coaches, or spectators will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

On the court
Play by the rules at all times.
Work equally hard for yourself and your team.
Be a good sport and acknowledge good plays by your team and the opposition.
Control your temper. Verbal and physical aggression is not permitted in any circumstance.
Never argue with a referee. If you disagree with a call, have your coach speak to the referee coach during a break or after the game.
Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants regardless of gender, ability, cultural background, or religion.
On the sidelines
Demonstrate respectful appreciation for coaches, referees, and administrators. Without them there is no competition.
Focus on player effort and enjoyment rather than winning or losing.
Never ridicule or yell at a player for making a mistake.
Encourage players to settle disagreements without physical or verbal aggression.
Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants regardless of gender, ability, cultural background, or religion.
On the bench
All coaches and managers must adhere to PLHBA by-laws.
Never argue with a referee. Approach the referee coach during a break if you have a concern.
Ensure players are in a positive environment where skill development is the priority.
Playing time should be roughly equal for all players, especially in Miniball, U10, and U12 where new skills are developing.
For U14 and above, if equal game time is not planned, this must be agreed with parents and players before the season begins.
Recognise the significance of injury and illness, particularly concussion, and follow return-to-play advice.
Recognise that many players play multiple sports and this may affect training and game attendance.

The cooperation and support of parents, guardians, and coaches is much appreciated. Any concerns can be directed to admin@ccbc.com.au.
