Age Groups
AGE GROUP INFORMATION
In 2026 to play in all age groups, players must be under the age of the age group on 30th June 2026 (eg to play U8, you must turn 8 after 30/6/26).
Under 8 First Steps Development
First Steps Development (must be Year 2) will be held on Tuesdays between 4.15 pm and 6.15 pm with an emphasis on skills development. Each of the 2 sessions comprises a 50-minute time slot made up of skills & drills, supervised by the Perry Lakes Hawks NBL1 players, and coaches from the Junior Clubs. Each session concludes with a mini game.
These sessions commence on Tuesday 12th of May 2026 through to and including Tuesday 30th of June and re-commence Tuesday 21st of July through to Tuesday 25th of August 2026.
Miniball (Under 9)
Miniball will be divided into Divisions based on age and ability. Girls and boys can play in the same team and boys and girls teams may play each other. It shall consist of Year 3s. Games are played with lower rings and modified rules.
Miniball for boys, girls and mixed teams will now be played on Saturday.
U10
Under 10 (normal rules) consist of Year 4s (9/10 year-olds).
U12
Under 12 (Years 5 & 6) age group will be divided into divisions which will be based on age and ability (ie teams of 11-year-olds will generally be in a higher division than teams of 10-year-olds). Girls and boys can play in the same team though not very common. In some circumstances, boys’ and girls’ teams may play against each other, but this is unusual.
Hawks special rules for U10-U12 Special rules
U14
Under 14 age group will be similarly divided into divisions as required. Teams may be all of one age within this group or a mixture of ages within this group. Boys and Girls are separate competitions.
U16, U18
Under 16 and Under 18 age groups will also be graded into divisions. Some flexibility may be needed particularly in the girls’ division.
The Junior Domestic Competition will commence on 20th/21st of March 2026 through to 11th/12th of September 2026.
